About Six Month Smiles®
Six Month Smiles® is a modern alternative to conventional braces. It combines principles about tooth movement that have been used for more than a century with innovative, proprietary materials and approaches. Due to the use of features such as Lucid Lok™ brackets and wires, Dr. Srinivasan can reposition both mildly crowded or gapped teeth and more complex misalignment and bite issues in, on average, six months. It is important to remember that treatment may be slightly shorter or longer, depending on the nature of the condition that we are correcting and the extent of improvement or tooth movement needed.
For those patients with more modest spacing concerns, our dentist may prescribe a series of transparent aligner trays customized to fit your mouth. These aligners slip into the mouth and conform to the contours of your gums and teeth. When worn as instructed by your dentist, they gradually reposition the teeth. They may be removed when brushing, flossing, or eating meals.
For patients who require more extensive tooth movement, Dr. Srinivasan may prescribe Six Month Smile’s unique twist on conventional fixed braces. These braces are designed by precisely measuring each tooth. In doing so, the brackets are placed correctly for optimal and swift teeth straightening. Additionally, a carefully-placed bracket is secured to each tooth – a design that facilitates the finest, most accurate, and efficient adjustments throughout treatment. What Is Six Month Smiles?
Six Month Smiles is an orthodontic system designed to straighten teeth in approximately six months, although some cases may need fewer or more months. It uses clear brackets and tooth-colored wires, making it a discreet option for adults and older teens (16+).
6 Month Smiles only focuses on the front teeth visible when smiling (the social six). It’s ideal for cosmetic adjustments for mild to moderate misalignments, such as crooked, spaced, or crowded teeth.

Is 6-Month Smiles suitable for children?
Orthodontic treatment for children doesn’t start until age 11, when most permanent teeth erupt. Six Month Smiles only improves the smile and doesn’t change the bite. When your teeth and jaws are growing, it’s the ideal time to embark on comprehensive orthodontic work to achieve a perfect bite. That said, we only recommend 6-month Smiles to patients aged 16 and above. Children and younger teens should stick to metal braces for the time being.
Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment?
Whether you have straightened your smile with braces, clear aligners, or Six Month Smiles, you must wear a retainer after treatment. A retainer maintains the new position of your teeth. Otherwise, your teeth will eventually relapse to their old, misaligned positions. Your Jackson dentist will guide you on the type of retainer and how long you should wear it to ensure long-term results.

Dr. Balaji Srinivasan is inspired by the passion and purpose he discovers in dentistry and strives to provide his clients with exceptional services. He graduated from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. He then attended Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska, and a residency program in Advanced General Dentistry at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In 1997, he established Madison Avenue Dental Associates, where he worked for ten years. He then established Aesthetic Dental Creations in Jackson, New Jersey, in 2008 and has not looked back since.
Dr. Srinivasan is an alumnus of the world-renowned Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Training. He has received specialized training in adhesive dentistry and smile design. Dr. Srinivasan is also very effective at treating migraine/headaches because of his expertise in neuromuscular(physiologic) dentistry.
